MAE.SUN is a band formed by saxophonist, vocalist and composer, Hailey Niswanger. Their debut album, Vol. 1: Inter-be, was released on November 3rd, 2017. MAE.SUN’s eclectic sonic palette ranges from contemporary jazz and world music, to soulful funk and neo-soul. Meant to be digested in one sitting, Vol. 1: Inter-be takes listeners on an immersive, genre-bending journey rooted in the hope for universal harmony. This music is for the world, honoring and influenced by the interdependent nature of reality.

MAE.SUN features Hailey Niswanger on soprano saxophone, vocals, and all compositions, Nikara Warren on vibraphone, Andrew Renfroe on guitar, Axel Laugart on keys, Aaron Liao on bass, and David Frazier Jr. on drums. Niswanger has released 3 previous albums as a leader; was featured in the Wall Street Journal, on NPR, and listed in the Downbeat Magazine critics poll in the rising star category for alto and soprano saxophone for the past 5 consecutive years. She has performed with Esperanza Spalding, Mike Clark, and Terri Lyne Carrington, among many others. Warren has participated in the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program; has shared the stage with her grandfather Kenny Barron, vocalist Charenee Wade, and Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts; as well as composes and leads her own group. Laugart released his self-titled album in 2016 and has performed with the Afro Cuban All Stars, Teresa Garcia Caturla, George Clinton, Steve Gadd, Pino Paladino, Pedrito Martinez, and many more. Renfroe has performed with many jazz and contemporary artists including, Carmen Lundy, Terrace Martin, and Nat Reeves. Liao has also performed with Patrice Rushen, Valerie Simpson, Terrence Blanchard, Antonio Sanchez, and more, and is a member of alternative experimental pop group Iris Lune. Frazier actively performs with Gabriel Garzón-Montano and SZA. MAE.SUN is based in New York City, and has performed at National Sawdust as part of The Revolution series and ‘We Are Here’ benefit concert, Club Bonafide, Williamsburg Music Center, and Nublu Classic.

World touring Artist, composer, band leader, Saxophonist, & award winning multi instrumentalist, Lito Hernandez will be leading the Lito Band in night of breathtaking Millennial Jazz. "Millennial Jazz is the music that reflects my generation and who we are. Just imagine music from all corners of the world conversing in one center point. Now imagine that in an explosion of sound! Born and raised in Santa Barbara California Lito took to music like a bird takes to flight! He received the highest honor that Berklee College of Music has to offer and attended the College for both his Undergrad and Masters Degrees. After studying in Boston, Athens Greece, & Valencia Spain Lito started his touring career where he was able to perform his music at the Umbria Jazz Festival (Perugia Italia), Art BASEL (Miami Florida), Topeka Kansas, Berklee College of Music Boston Massachusetts and up and down the California Coast. Lito is currently working on his first album release which is expected to drop this fall.

We have the great luxury of having Daryell Perkins joining us on drums. Making a pit stop from the top of the tri-county area, Daryell will be electrifying the band with his limitless expressions of love and soul on drums.

Santa Barbara native Santiino Taferella will be representing the 805 on bass. For the past three years Santino has been working under the direction of Bob Mintzer! Additionally he has worked along side Michael Michael McDonald, Bruce Forman, Phil Ranelin, & Ike Jenkins in his love and pursuit of creating Jazz.

One of the biggest kept secrets in the 805, pianist Miles Napier will be making it out for a night of Millennial Jazz with the the Lito Hernandez Band. Keep your eye on Miles Napier as he is soon to take off on the Jazz scene.
