The Wha Wha's
The Wha Wha's
The Wha Wha's are an Alternative/Indie Rock/Classic Rock band from Santa Barbara , CA. They have been on the fast track playing the SoCal Coast at different venues, festivals, private parties, and special events including: The Roxy, Whisky A Go Go, The Mint, Amplify, SOhO Music Venue, Savoy, Santa Barbara Fair and Expo, Old Spanish Days-Fiesta, and Avofest to name a few.

What makes them unique? They are equally talented musicians who all sing, play multiple instruments, and write their own songs. The group’s collective influences are Arctic Monkeys, The Beatles, The Black Keys, Kasabian, Oasis, Of Monsters And Men, and Mutemath.

In the summer of 2009 Maxton Schulte and Jamey Geston met at Santa Barbara's Rockshop Academy (RSA), a new summer camp for kids fostering the next generation of aspiring musicians in the Santa Barbara founded by George Pendergast, (Dishwalla/Penfifteen). Jamey was ten and Maxton was eleven years old. In summer 2010 they attended the 2nd year at the RSA meeting thirteen year old, Alyssa Davey, a drummer. After spending a couple of weeks together in camp, they decided to form a band called Retro Genius. They begin playing locally at events, fairs, and festivals.

In January 2011 the band took a seven month hiatus while one of the band member traveled to Europe with family, then reunited at Rockshop Academy in August 2011. They picked up where there left off rebirthing their band with a new feel, new edge and new name "The Wha Wha's." After just two months back together they place 2nd in Santa Barbara Youth Battle of the Bands for their divisions. These young musicians became the first group to emerge from Rockshop Academy, and now are quickly growing as Santa Barbara newest upcoming teen band.

The Wha Wha's have also been recognized by California Legislator, Das Williams, the City of Santa Barbara, and the Santa Barbara Fire Department for their "contribution to their community". They continue to volunteer through various non-profit service organizations and share their music with in their community.. Currently they are writing and putting their first album together and plan to start recording Fall 2012.
