The Santa Barbara Jazz Society proudly presents a special performance by jazz vocalist, Connie Evingson in a tribute to famed lyricist and Montecito resident, Norman Gimbel on Sunday, February 17 from 1 to 4 pm at SOhO. A Minneapolis resident, Ms. Evingson, has recently released a cd entitled "Sweet Happy Life "which has gone to #10 in the nation on the Jazz Week chart and is in the top 100 for the year 2012 on jazz radio. Some of Mr. Gimbel's songs featured on the cd are "The Girl From Ipanema", "Killing Me Softly With His Song", "Bluesette", "Canadian Sunset" and others.

Connie has appeared in theatres, concert halls and nightclubs around the world. She has been a guest soloist with the Minnesota Orchestra and the Toronto Symphony conducted by Doc Severinson. She has also appeared with Bobby McFerrin and has been a repeat guest on Garrison Keillor's "Prarie Home Companion". She has been featured on the Smithsonian's Jazz Singers radio series and National Public Radio's "Fresh Air". She is on numerious compilation discs including "Jazzis Magazine's Vocals on Fire and New Sirens of Song along with Diana Krall, Stacy Kent, Janis Seigel and others.
